一次，释迦牟尼佛向一位农夫托缽，农夫对佛陀说：“ 我耕田种粮，所以有饭吃；你不耕田种粮，何以要饭吃？” 佛陀说：“ 我也耕田种粮，我是在所有的众生心中種田，播下善种子，善根會发芽茁壯；而你布施給我，就像是在种福德田，当我度众生时，你的供养便在其中。”
